That's right. You've seen the flyers all over the campus center. You've seen the passionate martial arts and dance demonstrations in front of the student union. Or maybe you just saw this site address on the back of a bumper sticker. Either way , Since 2002 Body & Brain clubs are igniting at campuses around the country. And for good reason.
The bnb clubs are first and foremost student groups on campuses around the US, with a few locations on other parts of the earth, that seek to promote health happiness and peace through integrated mind and body training as well as community outreach, and career development.
The exercise within the bnb clubs is very dynamic, really fun, and offers a unique and intensive mind-body-energy training experience. After a couple bnb classes, you may just find your body more fit, and truly yours than you ever knew it could be-an easy smile more comfortably spreading across your face. While no experience is necessary, a very open mind helps. The exercise can be strong, very unique, and challenging both physically and emotionally-thus, a 'beginners mind' is always the best place to start!.
Here are some of the aspects of the training:
- Energy Yoga:
- This form of yoga, slightly different from traditional Indian forms of yoga, involves deep stretching in both static and active postures and is geared towards releasing tension and stress from the entire body, energy system, and brain. Similar to chi-kung, Energy Yoga also utilizes breath work and meditation towards these holistic health goals. Get ready for a powerful but totally light hearted experience of both relaxation and concentration—that mid-term won't know what hit it!
- Energy Martial Arts:
- This form of Martial Arts is similar to Tai Chi in that it brings practitioners an inner awareness of ones body, mind, and energy through slow and meditative movements. But don't be fooled, your legs might just burn like your on the last 100yds of a triathalon, and you'll probably sweat... a lot! This martial art form is also a very dynamic and holistic martial art in that it utilizes oriental healing techniques to experience ones huge potential for physical and mental power and clarity.
- Dance:
- Just when you thought you couldn't get more out of an hour and a half... many bnb classes also use dance or various forms of faster movement to warm up and really connect with the body.
- Power Drumming:
- Top it all off by learning and training in the powerful rhythms of these ancient drums from the far-east. Caution: if your heart has already starting beating with passionate irregularity, don't worry, it happens to everyone.
More Opportunities.
The bnb clubs also offer opportunities for community outreach, and career development both through summer internships, and programs during the academic year. In the summer of 2006, the bnb clubs will offer many programs especially in Boston to both support local communities, as well as the inner growth of the internship participants.
